Biotechnology Diploma

Biotechnology Home Page

The Biotechnology Diploma is a continuation of the Biotechnology Certificate that allows students to continue gaining skills in important molecular biology lab techniques that are the foundation for important biotechnologies in our community such as animal vaccines produced by Zoetis and Huvepharma.  Students will also complete a practicum at a local company.  The Diploma is ideal for students who, after taking the core biotechnology courses, want more advanced training and experience of working in the biotechnology industry.

With this Biotechnology Diploma, students have the skills necessary to get an entry-level position at a biotechnology company. If students choose to transfer, all of these courses transfer to local four-year institutions as either a degree requirement or science elective for several STEM majors. The coursework and lab skills taught within the Diploma overlap with several upper-level courses at four-year institutions like Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry.  Graduates of the Biotechnology program have commented that completing these courses before transferring made them feel like they had a head start in their field of study.
