GELO # 3: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Credits: 4

GELO #4: Global Awareness and Citizenship Credits: 3

GELO #5: Analytical, Quantitative, and Scientific Reasoning Credits: 4

(Human Anatomy & Physiology I, and Human Anatomy & Physiology II also work as a substitute for Human Anatomy and Human Physiology with lab courses.)

Special Program Requirements


  1. Submit copy of a current CPR card. See Program Admission Checklist for specific CPR requirements.
  2. Submit completed Health Statement to the Health Sciences Division (upon admission to the program).
  3. Submit flu vaccination.
  4. A criminal background check will be required of each student in this program. Based on the background check, a student may be prevented from taking certain courses, accessing certain laboratory experiences, or completing the program. A non-refundable fee of $45 will be accessed for this CBC. Misdemeanor or felony convictions may prevent a graduate from acquiring employment.
  5. Students admitted to a Health Sciences program at SCC requiring a clinical rotation at a contracted healthcare facility will submit to initial drug and alcohol testing prior to the first clinical visit. A non-refundable fee of $35 will be accessed for the drug screen.
  6. All students must receive a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 in the general education courses and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in the science courses. Science courses include Anatomy and Physiology. General education courses include oral communication, written communication, social science, and related courses required by the programs, such as Medical Terminology, Pharmacology and Dosage Calculations, and Success @ SCC.
  7. All SURT courses must be completed with a grade of 75% (C+) or higher to progress through the program.
  8. A laptop computer is required for students in this program.
