General Education Requirements

Take one class from one of the GELO categories below for a minimum of 3 credits.

GELO #1 - Speech Communication 
   OR
GELO #2 - Written Communication

   AND

Select a class from a GELO category below for a minimum of 3 credit hours.
GELO #3 - Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

• ECON 1200 Personal Finance   (recommended)  

GELO #4 - Global Awareness and Citizenship
GELO #5 - Analytical, Quantitative, and Scientific Reasoning

• MATH 1020 Technical Math   (recommended) or higher or a physics course in GELO #5.

Diesel Technology-Truck Courses

Course offerings and prerequisites will be determined by the program. A grade of “C” or higher in all DESL classes is required to receive a Diesel Technology-Truck Diploma.

• Take 6 hours from the following options:

• DESL 1111 - Transportation Maintenance & Repair Fundamentals Credits: 6 (Recommended)
• AGST 1111 - Transportation Maintenance & Repair Fundamentals Credits: 6
• ASEP 1111 - Transportation Maintenance & Repair Fundamentals Credits: 6
• ASST 1111 - Transportation Maintenance & Repair Fundamentals Credits: 6
• AUTT 1111 - Transportation Maintenance & Repair Fundamentals Credits: 6
• AUTT 1007 - Auto Shop Safety & Repair Credits: 3
• AUTT 1110 - Basic Automotive Maintenance Credits: 3
• AUTT 1901 - Automotive Cooperative Experience Credits: 3

• And take 6 hours from the following options:

• DESL 1116 - Electrical Fundamentals Credits: 6 (Recommended)
• AGST 1116 - Electrical Fundamentals Credits: 6
• ASEP 1116 - Electrical Fundamentals Credits: 6
• ASST 1116 - Electrical Fundamentals Credits: 6
• AUTT 1116 - Electrical Fundamentals Credits: 5
• AUTT 1006 - Automotive Electrical Repair Credits: 1
• AUTT 1016 - Transportation Electrical Concepts Credits: 3
• AUTT 1026 - Automotive Electrical Service Credits: 3
• MSTT 1006 - Powersports Electrical Repair Credits: 1

• And take 12 hours from the following options:

• DESL 1240 - Hydraulics & Braking Systems Credits: 6 (Recommended)
• DESL 2431 - Steering and Suspension/Preventive Maintenance Credits: 6 (Recommended)
• DESL 1250 - Engines, Fuel Systems and Emission Controls Credits: 6
• DESL 2450 - Powertrain Systems Credits: 6

Total: 31 hours

Students are required to provide or purchase a basic tool set during the first semester. A required tool list and more information can be acquired online at www.southeast.edu/diesel-technology-truck

Students are also required to wear program shirts or sponsoring employer uniforms while in classroom or laboratory settings. Shirts may be purchased in the SCC Campus Store.
