In biotechnology courses, students learn current and emerging industry technologies while gaining hands-on lab experience. Coursework emphasizes the full product pipeline—from research and development to manufacturing, formulation, and marketing. Students develop skills in core lab techniques, experimental design, data quality control, and data analysis using industry-relevant software.
The Biotechnology A.S. degree includes the option for a practicum at a local company, where students apply technical skills and strengthen essential soft skills such as critical thinking, adaptability, and communication. Many students have advanced to higher-level roles after completing the program.
Graduates may enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year institution. All courses transfer to local institutions as degree requirements or science electives for several STEM majors. Recent graduates have transferred to pursue B.S. degrees in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Plant Biology, and Applied Science.
