Program Overview:
The Operations and Service Management - Associate of Applied Science degree prepares individuals to manage and direct the physical, technical, and operational functions of an organization, particularly those relating to production systems, plant service and management, equipment maintenance management, production control, industrial labor relations, skilled trades supervision, strategic manufacturing policy, systems analysis, productivity analysis, cost control, and materials planning. While this program includes different types of business courses, it ultimately focuses on operations and service and as such are more applicable to advancing careers in technology, trades, industry, and/or manufacturing.
Students will work with an advisor in their career and technical program in addition to a business advisor.

Special Program Requirements
Students who wish to pursue their education in Business must complete the college admissions requirements, all prerequisite courses with a “C” or higher and the special program requirements below:
- A Windows-based Operating System is strongly encouraged. Computer labs are available for student who do not have a Windows OS.
- Students will complete the ACCUPLACER, ASSET, ACT, Next Generation Accuplacer or SAT pre-admission testing. Skills students currently have in math, writing, and reading comprehension will be determined by test scores. Scores from testing will be used to place students in appropriate math and writing courses as well as any developmental reading program that may be necessary.
Developmental courses include the following:
ENGL 0900 - Reading Workshop
ENGL 0960 - Beginning College Reading/Writing
ENGL 0985 - Intermediate College Reading/Writing
MATH 0900 - Math Fundamentals
MATH 0950 - Beginning Algebra
Your advisor will assist you in interpreting placement scores and determining if you are required to take the prescribed developmental courses.
3. Students’ high school or college transcripts must validate successful completion of an accounting course. Two semesters of high school accounting or one semester of college accounting must have been completed with a B average or higher. Students who cannot validate previous accounting course work will be advised to take Office Accounting OFFT 1310 as one of their business electives.
4. Students in the Business program are expected to meet keyboarding skills of 30 NWAM. Those students who do not meet 30 NWAM will be advised to take Basic Keyboarding to improve their skills. Keyboarding classes numbered below OFFT 1160 are considered developmental courses.
5. If your advisor determines that you must take developmental or prerequisite courses, they will be taken during the first part of the program. The credit hours earned in these classes will not count toward graduation requirements.
